Andrea Williams, 33yrs old was involved in a chopping incident which took place in Beaton, the last Saturday in August. Her right hand was chopped off right below the elbow; the thumb of the left hand was also chopped off. She also received a chop on one of her breast, two on her back, and she also had a dislocated shoulder.
This was done to her by Godfrey Simeon, 46yrs, someone she has children for but broke off the relationship because of his illegal drug use and physical abuse for money to buy the drugs. He wanted a relationship again but she refused, and reminded him of his substance abuse and physical abuse she previously received from him. He left the area, went home and return with the cutlass. She has 6 children, 2 teenagers, 1-11yr old and 4yrs, 3yrs, and 1yr old for Godfrey. She did housecleaning and babysitting for a living.
She is a member of the Beaton, Laura, La Femme, Bailles Bacollet Community Development Organization, and she was promised a house before this incident happened. The goal of the organization is to work with the relevant bodies to give her whatever held she needs which will be long term. This will have to be in the areas of childcare and housekeeping.
The group has approach GNOW and the Social Worker's Association for donation.
